The Hadarim Project
A longitudinal within-group study, conducted in Hadarim, a seniors' nursing home in Kibbutz Na'an,
examines the effect that Cannabis consumption has on gaining weight, daily calorie intake, sleep, medication usage and blood level nutrition markers in elderly residents.
With regular treatment, senior citizens of the ages checked, their weight decreases, their levels of hemoglobin drop, the quantity of their medications continually increases and their sleep is irregular.
Following treatment with Cannabis (administered through swallowing powder, oil or through the use of a vaporizer)
we have found an increase in weight, an increase in the daily calorie intake, an increase in quantity and quality of sleep, a stabilization of hemoglobin levels and a decrease in the use of medication such as: painkillers, anti-anxiety pills and antidepressants.
